AHPA MEETING MINUTES
April 8th, 2007

By Makena

Our gracious hostess at the Honolulu Zoo, Linda Santos, gave presentations on the Avian Flu, parrot friendly plants and tools to build an aviary.

Avian Flu highlights included transmission, symptoms and bio security. She addressed West Nile and vaccines used at the zoo.

Linda discussed the plants they use in the zoo aviaries and handed out information on parrot friendly plants, flowers and trees.

She reviewed the tools and materials they use to build aviaries at the zoo.  Linda spoke to the best ways to order materials and shared her sources.

Linda Santos is the most knowledgeable avian keeper in Hawaii.  From soup to nuts, she is the go to person.  Our club is very lucky to be acquainted with such a giving and well-informed person that gives of her time and expertise.

Respectfully submitted,

Makena
