AHPA MEETING MINUTES
November 4, 2001

BY DEBBIE EUGENIO WISS

Our annual Christmas party will be a prime rib luncheon hosted by the Aloha Parrot Association on Sunday, December 2, 2001. Rob will bring desserts! We will be having a gift exchange so each member must bring a wr apped gift (around $10.00 worth) to our December meeting.

Speakers from this past year’s meetings will be invited to our luncheon also. There will be a board meeting in December to plan the events for the upcoming year. It will be held at the Blaisdell Park.
For raffle donations, please see Helene.

Pat showed us how to make bird toys and offered some helpful hints:
• Food coloring to color the wood is safe for birds
• Icing dye, which has sugar, is ok to use if the toy will not be stored for a period of time
• Don’t use vinegar in the dye on bark, it makes the dye turn black
• Pine, guava, kiawe & mesquite wood are ok to use
• Do not use cedar, applewood or redwood
• Do not use treated lumber

A warm welcome to our new members:
August & Laura Frederickson
Chad & Sandra Tuscan
